Co-management in Lawachara began in October 2005, and on May 15, 2006, the Environment and Forests Ministry issued an order recognizing it. Lawachara CMC formally collaborates with the Bangladesh Forest Department, as well as all significant community leaders, including municipal authorities, and of course lawmakers from the nearby 30 villages, who are gathered in a single forum. The CMC manages community patrols and eco-guides charges visitors an entrance fee, and staffs a visitor center. On a much larger scale, encompassing roughly 7,000 acres, we also hope to influence conservation awareness and respect for sustainable land uses.

Please aid in our initiatives to improve conservation, says Lawachara CMC. Local communities collaborate with the Bangladesh Forest Department and local government as part of the work done by Lawachara CMC and related organizations. Grant funding and other outside resources are necessary for these activities.

Lawachara CMC has access to grants from domestic sources and a bank account (Sonali Bank Limited, Kamalganj Branch, Moulvibazar). Money can be directed through CNRS, a national NGO that assisted in the establishment of the CMC, for international aid. CNRS has a registration number of 841 with the Bangladesh NGO Affairs Bureau. Its programs are centered on managing natural resources.
